Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions to help you get more familiar with HASC Online.

How will this new mode of teaching affect the school’s schedule of tuition and fees?

Miscellaneous fees such as athletics, laboratory and testing materials have been removed while all other fees like energy fee, which will not be fully utilized for HASC’s new online format, have been diverted to building and maintaining the online infrastructure that your children will be using throughout this school year.

What will the daily online class schedule look like?

Similar to a regular classroom setup, the adviser will conduct daily check-ins to start the school day. It will usually start with a prayer, physical exercises and reminders. This will then be followed by academic time that utilizes a combination of HASC’s video conferencing capabilities and Learning Management System delivered modules. Enough break times will be allocated to allow for students to take a rest from screen exposure. See our sample schedule by following this link.

Will gadgets or devices be included in the tuition?

Gadgets and devices are not included in your child’s tuition. It is important to note that HASC’s online learning system requires at least a tablet, laptop or a desktop that has access to the internet via a browser such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari and has a camera and mic.

Can smartphones be used for HASC’s online learning?

Smartphones may be used for viewing content. However, since our Learning Management Systems are browser based, some functionalities may be limited particularly in terms of productivity softwares such as word processors and spreadsheets hence it is advisable to use at least a tablet for the purposes of online learning.

How can parents manage the sharing of gadgets or devices such as laptops and desktops if they have more than one child enrolled at HASC?

HASC will implement a combination of synchronous and asynchronous modes of teaching. Many activities are delivered as asynchronous sessions hence students can complete tasks and exercises at their own pace within a reasonable time frame. Should teachers and advisers require synchronous sessions that will coincide with another child’s synchronous class, parents should decide which child needs it more and reach out to the other child's teacher to inform them that a sibling will be using the device during the simultaneous synchronous sessions.

Will hardcopy books be provided or required for online learning?

HASC students will be using hard-copy books with e-Books to most subjects for Nursery to Grade 10 while e-Books are fully integrated within our Learning Management System via modules or study guides for Grades 11 & 12.

How does HASC’s Online Learning Platform and Learning Management Systems differ from video conferencing apps like Zoom or productivity softwares such as Microsoft Office Suite?

On the one hand, HASC’s Online Learning Platform is purposely built for use within the education sector. Unlike Zoom, HASC’s Online Learning Platform has its own secure video conferencing capabilities ensuring that unauthorized access is prevented.

HASC’s Learning Management Systems on the other hand are award-winning, simple to use web-based online learning solutions that allow teachers to deliver DepEd aligned curriculum and content remotely to our students. Unlike other LMS, our world-class Learning Management Systems include a parent’s account/access which will allow parents to remotely check their child’s progress - an important feature to ensure your child’s success in our new online format.

Are HASC’s online learning modules aligned with DepEd’s curriculum?

Absolutely! Our school director, principals, coordinators and teachers will continue to ensure that all content delivered through our Learning Management Systems will always be in line with DepEd’s curriculum, making their involvement essential to your child’s success in this new platform.

Why enrol with HASC instead of homeschooling or buying a Learning Management System license?

Standalone Learning Management System licenses do not guarantee that your child will complete DepEd’s approved curriculum. Moreover, returning homeschooled students who opted not to enrol with HASC will have to provide their credentials and retake an entrance exam similar to a new student.

Enrolling with HASC will not only ensure your child receives complete education but also guarantees your child’s spot at HASC should the government decide to move to a hybrid model or allow students to return to the classrooms.

What level of parental supervision is needed for online learning?

Adult supervision for younger children (Nursery to Grade 3) is essential. A parent/guardian’s presence will allow the student to develop a routine and more importantly assist with using HASC’s Online Learning Platform and Learning Management System.

Older children (Grades 4-12) will need minimal adult supervision as long as they have basic computer proficiency.

How will HASC prepare the parents and students to the new Online Learning Platform and Learning Management Systems?

HASC will schedule a number of parent and student system orientation sessions, which will cover both the school’s  Online Learning Platform and Learning Management Systems. These sessions will be delivered via video conference/Facebook LIVE.
